The
Abbotsford Symphony invites piano performers between the ages of 17 and
29 to compete in the second Abbotsford Symphony Mozart Piano Concerto
Competition.
Two Finalists will play at the
March 10, 2006 Masterworks concert with the Abbotsford Symphony
Orchestra; one candidate will be chosen the winner.
The competition is open to those
who meet the following requirements:
- Applicant must be 17 and no
older than 29 on December 31, 2005.
- Applicant must be attending a
music school majoring in Piano Performance.

Applicant must be a
resident or landed immigrant in Canada or an International student
attending a Canadian music school.
Candidates who meet the above-mentioned requirements must:
- Email or mail letter of
intent to the ASO Office By January 31, 2006.
- Complete an Application form,
and return it to the Abbotsford Symphony Orchestra office by Feb 24,
2006, (no late applications will be accepted), accompanied with
a $75, non-refundable application fee.
- Submit an
unedited audition C.D of a complete Mozart piano concerto (with piano
or orchestral accompaniment) taken from the following choices:

(KV459), #21 (KV467), #23 (KV488), #24 (KV491), #25 (KV503) #26 (KV537)
- Play their whole concerto
from memory.
- Submit, along with the
audition tape, a copy of their music for the adjudicator.
Successful candidates will
participate in the semi-finals taking place in Abbotsford on Tuesday
March 7 and Wednesday March 8. Finalists must rehearse with Maestro
Louwersheimer on Thursday March 9, and at the orchestra rehearsal March
10.
